steps to calculate the basic pay is as follows

2. 64%of DA to be merged (Add 64% of the above basic pay)
3. Fitment Benefit (Rs. 1000 or 10% of pre revised basic whichever is higher)
4. Add all the above (steps 1+2+3)
5. Fix the stage in the revised scale
6. Add Service Weightage : 0.5% for every year of service(if you have completed 8 years in service on 01.07.2009 or at the date of option, you have to add 4% (8×0.5) of basic pay (pre revised) as service weightage)
7. Add step 5 and 6

8. Fix the stage in the revised scale as your Basic Pay at 01,07,2009 or the option date.

Example

Suppose we take the old pay scale No. 3 (4750 -120 -4990 -130 -5510 -140 -5930 -150 -6680 -160 -7480 -170 -7820) and the revised pay scale will be 8960 -230 -9190 -250 -9940 -270 -11020 -300 -12220 -330 -13210
If a person have completed 9 years in the old pay scale No. 3 and he reached the basic pay 5790 on 01.07.2009 or on the option date. Let us calculate his revised pay

Basic pay as on 01.07.2009 (option date) – 5790

64% D.A of 5790 – 3706

Fitment Benefit10% of 5790 = 579 or 1000 (whichever is higher) - 1000

Total of above 3 steps (5790+3706+1000) – 10496

Stage in revised Scale -10750

Service Weightage is 0.05 of the above pay for each completed years (9 x 0.5 = 4.5% of 5790) - 261

Total (10750+484) – 11011

Pay fixed in revised pay scale on 01.07.2009 or

the option date is the next stage in revised pay- 11020

The basic pay of the above mentioned person as on 01.07.2010 or the date opted by him will be Rs. 11020 in the revised pay scale. Add all admissible allowances to get the gross salary.
